THIS IS I BELIEVE
I believe in progress, even if there are different kinds of progress, in my opinion they basically all have the same purpose and meaning. Although there exist several types of progress like the scientific; technological; social or historical progress, it’s always talking about the fact to evolve or rather improve some domains, mankind has already developed. Sometimes progress even enables us to discover or invent some new and unknown things. In my opinion the best examples are the scientific and technological progress, we’ve made in the last 50 years.
The technological progress developed considerably in the last few years, like for example in the domain of the internet. Nowadays we can research and nearly buy everything just by going online. Most of us even carry a direct access to the internet with them, thanks to the modern smartphones, so we can go online whenever and wherever we want to. ‘Thanks’ to this immense development we improved even our communication with each other, we can stay connected and exchange informations just by using social medias like e-mails, Facebook or Twitter. The internet became such an important tool for mankind that living without it has become impossible and inconceivable. The technological progress facilitated our lives a lot and made them more secure as well by improving the safety of the cars for example. Technology reached a very high and advanced level nowadays. However, it still didn’t reach the final stage of its evolution and its evolving and developing every single day.
Even though I believe in all kinds of progress, the one I mostly believe in is the scientific one. When I’m talking or thinking about scientific progress I mostly refer myself to the progress in medicine. Thanks to progress in general but mostly thanks to the medical progress we enabled to increase our life-expectation considerably. My father became very sick a few years ago, he was attempted by a heart attack. Fortunately, he arrived in time in hospital so the doctors were able to help and make him healthy again by putting several by-passes in his body. Only a little bit of time later I recognized how lucky we had been that my father was still alive. Due to this horrible experience I realized how important the medical progress is. However, by growing up and becoming more mature I started to understand and respecting even more the importance of this domain. Even in history medical progress saved the humanity several times, like for example during the fever outbreaks or the great epidemics of plague and cholera. It’s only thanks to the progress in medicine that humanity was able to save itself and survive. In the last years I’ve had the possibility to experience the progress of medicine by myself because of my own health problems. I’ve had my wrist which was always hurting me I wasn’t able to force it too much and so I was very limited in several sports or even during my daily routine. After consulting a doctor and after several examinations they decided to operate me and now it health and it doesn’t hurt anymore.
To believe in something needs faith, trust and strength but medicine provided and still provides us with several proofs of its efficiency and reliability. Which makes it easier to believe and trust in it and I am confident that one day the progress will find all necessary remedies and cures against the worst maladies like cancer or HIV and it will bring us the world peace as well one day.
....PROFESSIONALISM; Since I started studying here in Glion I started believing in professionalism as well. I think that if someone especially in the domain of the hotel industry has a professional approach to his professional life and takes his work really serious this will be reflected in his personal life as well. For example the fact to be in time or being well groomed everyday will adapt you to be it for your personal life as well. If you have a professional behaviour in your profession you will manage your life much easier because you will have a professional approach to your everyday life as well.
This is I believe.
